St. John’s takes third in Advocare Invitational

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL. — The St. John’s Red Storm took third place at the the Advocare Invitational in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on Sunday.

Despite both teams shooting under 28 percent, the Red Storm came out with the win over the Knights.

Shamorie Ponds came up big for the Storm in the last seven minutes hitting crucial free throws. St. John’s Justin Simone scored 8 points with 8 rebounds.

UCF had plenty of chances to beat the Red Storm but missed 1-13 from behind the arc.

St. John’s now has a week off and plays Sacred Heart on Saturday at home.
