There were several brutal hits in the Monday Night Football game and they won’t go unpunished. The NFL has announced a one-game suspension without pay for Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and Bengals safety George Iloka for their helmet-to-helmet hits.
Smith-Schuster will serve his suspension due to his hit on Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict using his helmet and standing over him after the hit, triggering unsportsmanlike conduct and taunting penalties. This was the 3rd and last time Burfict would have to leave the game and was taken off on a stretcher immobilized. Smith-Schuster will miss the Week 14 matchup against Pittsburgh’s divisional opponent, the Baltimore Ravens.
While Smith-Schuster was apologizing to the media about the hit in the Steelers locker room, Antonio Brown can be heard in the background repeatedly yelling, “Karma”
Brown could be alluding to a hit by Burfict in the 2015 Playoffs that left him concussed, or possibly the other player who was suspended for their MNF actions.
Iloka was suspended due to a hit on Antonio Brown in the end-zone when Brown was deemed a “defenseless receiver”, which was flagged. Iloka will miss the Bengals’ matchup against the Bears.
