2018 IIHF World Juniors Day 1: USA dominates Denmark, Canada defeats Finand

USA started their quest to repeat gold with a dominating 9-0 victory over Denmark. Keifer Bellows led the way with 2 goals including a penalty shot goal. The U.S. struck first 2 minutes into a 5 goal 1st period and never looked back. Goaltender Joesph Woll got the win in net with a 17 save shutout. The U.S. will have a day off tomorrow as they prepare to face Slovakia on Thursday.

Canada’s quest for redemption got off to a good start as they defeated Finland 4-2.  Taylor Reddish led the way with a goal and an assist.

The game got off to a controversial start as Canada forward Boris Katchouk came in on a breakaway and scored despite appearing to knock the net off. Canada struck again 27 seconds as Sam Steel gave the Canadians a 2-0 lead. Canada is back at it again tomorrow as they take on Slovakia.
